Deeds are conveyances which transfer title of property from one party to another. The deed gives date of instrument, names of grantor (seller) and grantee (purchaser), location of property, amount paid for the property, grantor's notarized signature, certification of county clerk, and date recorded.

Shelby, the twelfth Kentucky county, was formed in 1792 from part of Jefferson County. It is named for Isaac Shelby. Shelbyville is the county seat.
